Located just in front of the JR station, it's a bit tricky to find the way at first. If you exit the station, you need to go underground with the elevator on the street, then cross the road through the underground parking, then exit just few meters from the hotel. All the path is suitcases-friendly. There is a FamilyMart next to it, which is an added convenience. Onsen was clean, but nothing to write home about, just a small, indoors only onsen. Very helpful staff, we were able to communicate freely in English and they have helped us to store suitcases after checkout as our train was later. The beds were comfy.

Exceeded expectations. Large size room ( we booked a single room for a couple). Very clean and modern. Towels were larger than the usual small size for a Japanese hotel stay. Hotel is located across the road from the station/ take underpass outside station (next to information building) to cross the road. Very friendly staff. Little English but enough to be able to communicate effectively. Matsue Castle within walking distance - fairly flat although you can take the no. 7 bus from the bus depot outside the train station.

This is a very new hotel across the street from Matsue Station but to get there you go through an underpass. The spotlessly clean room was small but perfectly fine for a single person and there were a lot of electrical outlets. Although my window faced Matsue Station, it was very quiet. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet which had quite a variety of food and drinks. The comfortable well lit eating area had several small tables and a long hightop table with stools. The public bath was a real nice addition.

Great location just opposite the station. Convenience store just next to the hotel as well. Staffs are very very helpful and friendly. My friend left her scarf at an Onsen Ryokan in Tamatsukuri Onsen and a staff called them for us to check if they found a scarf. When we asked a nice cafe near the hotel, she copied a map and circled the cafe on the map and gave the map to me. The staffs went the extra miles to help us. Big bath is also very nice although it's an artificial Onsen.

Itsuko

Excellent location opposite the station, with underground access from just outside the station. Lots of restaurants in the area, and a 25 minute walk to the castle. The hotel was stylish and sparkling. You could help yourself to amenities, and on each floor you could select your robe, plus select extra/different pillows. The room was small but not tiny, and had everything we needed. We had a view over the city with glimpses of the lake and hills. A bonus was the blackout curtain!
